Pontiac Used Cars- The G6
YouPaidWhat-used cars
Pontiac used cars like the G6 was the new replacement for the Grand Am back in 2005. Pontiac decided that it needed to rid itself of a model that had average at best quality and reliability. The Pontiac G6 was design first as a four door sedan but in 2006 Pontiac decided to add a coupe model with a folding hardtop convertible. The G6 competes in the mid-size segment of the auto industry and its main competitors are the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Scion TC and the Chevrolet Cobalt. My research will be on the Pontiac G6 as a used vehicle to look at.
There are two Pontiac G6 models to choose from, the base and the sportier GT model. Both models use a front wheel drive platform base on the Chevrolet Malibu. Wheel sizes vary for each of the models, the base model uses a 16 inch wheel, while the GT uses a 17 inch wheel. Some of the safety features that come with the G6 are traction control, antilock brakes and power adjustable pedals. There is an option for front side air bags and curtain side air bags. The Onstar assistance and leather upholstery are only available for the GT model and Satellite radio with remote starting are both options for the base and GT models.
There are different fuel statistics for the various engine sizes the G6 has to offer. The four cylinder had a 10-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 6.4-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. The 3.5-litre engine had a fuel rating of 11.7-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 7.7-litres, per 100km, for highway driving. The 3.9-litre engine had a fuel rating of 13.1-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8.6-litres, per 100km, for highway driving (automatic transmission).
There are different engine sizes for the G8. In 2006 the sedan had a 2.4-litre engine and this produced 167 horsepower. The two other engines that are offered are the V6, 3.6-litre engine and the V6, 3.9-litre engine, which has 240 horsepower.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of the Pontiac G8 as a used vehicle:
1- The most serious issue that may arise with the G8 is a steering issue that locks up unexpectedly when driving. This only seems to affect 2005 models.
2- It was giving a bad rating as a used car to buy from a leading online consumer watch dog.
3- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the G6 a good rating for a frontal crash test done to it.
I hope this helps if you’re looking at Pontiac used cars like the G6.
